A short item in the Sept. 11, 1914 paper showed how quickly the war had started to affect prices. The increase in the price of chemicals used in paper making had caused paper to rise in cost by 20%. Newspaper subscribers who were in arrears would be cut off. At the time, the price of a one year subscription to the Grande Prairie Herald was $2.00.blog sept 11 2
