Biographical Sketch
Wayne LaRoy Feil was born March 20, 1940 to parents Andrew Feil and Evelyn Feil of Grande Prairie. Wayne grew up in Grande Prairie and as a youth, was active in many of the local activities including Boy Scouts and figure skating.
Wayne earned his teaching degree at the University of Alberta. Most of his forty-year teaching career was spent in Red Deer, Alberta, but Wayne also taught in Grande Prairie and with the Canadian Department of National Defense in Lar, Germany. Besides teaching, Wayne was also a figure skating coach and judge, and helped to develop the sport of precision skating in Alberta. As well, he was active in the Red Deer Theatre as an actor and director.
After a brief battle with cancer, Wayne passed away in Red Deer on June 20, 2007.
Custodial History
These materials were created or collected by Wayne Feil as a youth in Grande Prairie. He donated them to the Grande Prairie Museum in 1998.
They were originally arranged as part of the Grande Prairie & District Museum Society fonds (fonds 001) but were re-arranged to a separate fonds as part of a reorganization project.
Scope and Content
This fonds contains records created and collected by Wayne Fiel during his years as a Boy Scout in Grande Prairie.
These records consist of membership cards, scout booklets, troop records, and other emphemera related to the scouting movement. Boy Scout membership and test records of Wolf Patrol #2, belonging to Wayne Feil.
