An unusual sight around Faust in June 1931 was prairie schooners and wagon loads of settlers effects. 21 wagons and 96 horses were counted by motorists on the roads. Land had been reserves across the Little Smoky River south of Falher for settlers from the drought-stricken areas in the south. By 1935 the land had been opened up for general settlement because not as many people came as was expected.
