A “life-saving” new type of parachute was tested at the local airport using bags of mud harnessed to the chute and heaved out a plane at 1,000 feet. This demonstration may have served more to advertise plane rides at the local Elks Carnival than as a serious experiment. There was great praise for Mrs. Fox of the Singer Sewing Machine Co. for her services in making the chutes.
