Wilfred Loiselle was born on April 10, 1913 in Trochu, Ab. He received his education in St. Mary’s Catholic Separate School in Calgary. After his graduation, he attended Calgary Normal School to receive a teaching certificate in 1933. The next year he attended a commercial school in Calgary. He then received further education from “Le College du Sacre Coeur” in St. Hyacinthe, Qc. He later received his B.Ed. from the University of Alberta by taking summer courses.
Wilfred began his teaching career in Landry School in 1937, where he taught for four years.
From 1942 to 1945 Wilfred served in the R.C.A.F.
Wilfred married Juliette Girard on December 31, 1945 in Jean Cote, Ab. They then resided in Olds, Ab., where Wilfred was teaching. In 1947 they returned to Girouxville, Ab. and Wilfred taught in the Landry School for the second time. Wilfred also taught in Tangent, Girouxville and Donnelly. Wilfred gave 43 years of his life to the education of students in Alberta, 38 of those years in the Donnelly Corner area of the Peace Country.
Wilfred passed away on December 27, 1993 and is interred at Notre Dame de Lourdes Roman Catholic Cemetery in Girouxville.
