Murray Harold Lay was born in Danville, Quebec on February 9, 1917 and moved with his parents at age 11 to Beaverlodge, Ab. in August, 1928. Murray enlisted in 1943 and served with the Royal Canadian Navy for 2 years.
After the war Murray took over the home farm 2.5 miles NW of Beaverlodge. He married Isabel Fraser from Teepee Creek in 1948. They enjoyed grain farming and raising registered Hereford cattle for 28 years. At age 60 Murray attended NAIT, completing a 4th Class Steam course. He then worked as a steam engineer at the Beaverlodge Airbase until his forced retirement at age 65.
Murray remarried to Lucy Mouser after Isabel’s passing in 1985.
Murray passed away in 2006 and is interred at Riverview Cemetery in Albright, Ab.
