Lacombe, Edward Leonard

Edward Leonard Lacombe was born in 1905. He lived in Calgary, AB with his wife and four children until moving to the Bay Tree area in 1939 with a loan of $1 000 from the government to purchase farm equipment. The family stayed in the area until the war broke out and they needed to decide whether to keep farming or move back to Calgary, the latter won out and they moved in 1942. Ed not only farmed in Bay Tree, he also worked for the CPR (Canadian Pacific Railroad) until the war. They lived in Calgary until 1970 when they sold their home to the Stampede Board to allow for further expansion. They bought 80 acres in the Three Hills area. Ed passed away on July 11th, 1980 at the age of 75. He is buried in Briar Ridge Cemetery, Pouce Coupe, BC.
