Walter Harold Kyle was born January 16th, 1912 in Glen Ella, MB. He joined the Army in 1942 and became a gunner. He served in Italy, Belgium, Holland and France. Walter received the Italy Star, the France and Germany Star, the War Medal (1939-1945), the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, the Silver Bar and the Service Star. After the war he returned to Hythe with his new wife and with financial support of the VLA he purchased a quarter of land. He was a member of the Hythe Legion (#93) for 45 years. He raised cattle and farmed until his death on November 3rd, 1980 at the age of 68. He is buried in the Hythe Cemetery.
