The Klomstad family originated in Norway and moved first to Minnesota. It was in Minnesota that Fred was born. When Fred and his brothers were old enough to help with the farming, his father Ole went in search of more land and a better country to live. In July of 1926 Ole set out for Valhalla Centre, he would buy a quarter of a section of land. In October of 1926 the family moved up to the Peace Country. On November 6th, 1926 they arrived in Sexsmith, AB. In 1942 Fred left the farm and joined the Army. In 1944 he married Kathleen (Kay) Nay and shortly after moved to Irma, AB. Fred and Kay would have two children.
