Clarence Ralph Johnston was born in Dimsdale, AB on November 7th, 1920. He was the son of early pioneers in the Peace Country. He was an avid baseball player and played on several teams including the Maroons in Grande Prairie. He served overseas in the Army for five years. He married Wilhelmina Beekmans in Holland on April 24th, 1946. When he returned to Alberta after the war, he farmed in the Calais, AB area. He worked in the lumber industry and then in the housing construction industry in Grande Prairie. He owned and managed Johnston Homes and Trusses from 1974 to 1982. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Golden Age Bridge club. He passed away on July 6th, 1991 in Grande Prairie and is buried in the City of Grande Prairie cemetery.
