Johnson, Harry C.

Harry C. Johnson was born in Prince George, BC in 1915 and moved with his family to Spirit River in 1916. He spent his school career in Sprit River, with the exception of grade 12 which he went to Grande Prairie Hight School to receive. After one year in Grande Prairie he moved to Milwaukee, U.S.A. and spent four year in University, graduating as an Engineer. Following his training he returned to Canada. He served in the RCAF in the communications and radar branch and in England, was attached to bomber command. After the war he returned to his job in Toronto before moving to Montreal as an engineer with the RCA company. In 1948 he married a woman who was a in the former RCAF Operations Room. That was the same year that his father wrote him to ask if he would come back and help with the farm in Spirit River.

There is mention of Harry coming back to Spirit River while on leave, in the Daily Herald Tribune front page on May 16th, 1941. It talks about him as Cpl Harry Johnson with the RCAF and being stationed in Montreal. He spent his 14 day leave with his parents and reconnected with friends from the Grande Prairie High School. He left on May 14th to join his unit.
