Johnson, Arthur

There is mention of Arthur Johnson’s passing in the Peace River Gazette at the age of 70, paper published November 29th, 1995. It states his place of death as Edmonton, AB.

In the Daily Hearld Tribune, August 21st, 1941 edition it mentions L/A/C Arthur Johnson of the RCAF, on leave and visiting his parents Mr. and Mrs. Hedley Johnson of Clairmont. The article references him joining the Air Force in 1940; he was stationed in Mountainview, ON. It also mentions that his brother will also be leaving that week to join; Wilfred. There is mention of Hedley and Carrie, Arthur Johnson’s parents, homesteading in Five Mile and that is where Arthur was born. In 1928, they sold the farm and moved to town. In 1946 they moved to Rocky Mountain House. In “Smoky River to Grande Prairie” which was published in 1978, there is mention of his family and that “Arthur’s whereabouts are unknown”.
