Jewitt, Lloyd

Born on January 24, 1914 in Kincaid, SK. He lived in Leask, SK for five years where he worked and completed his grade 12. In August, 1937 he arrived in Beaverlodge, his first job was a mechanic in Allen and Davis’s Garage, G.M. Dealers. In 1938 he returned to Leask and married Zoe Coleman, their first child was born in Beaverlodge in 1940. Lloyd instructed local youth in preparation for service in World War II. He enlisted in the Army and instructed in motor- and motorcycle mechanics from 1941 until 1945 at Hamilton and Kingston, ON. He eventually went on to run Jewitt Motors, he sold the business in 1969 and returned to school to fulfill a lifelong ambition to be a teacher, becoming an Industrial Arts teacher in Sexsmith, AB. He retired in 1979, but continued to substitute teach until the age of 79. Lloyd passed away on April 8th, 1988 at age 84 and is buried in the Beaverlodge Cemetery.
