After the Second World War, in 1946, a group of 8 returning veterans formed a co-operative living and agricultural experiment on homesteads south of Guy. The location was NE quarter of section35, Township 74, Range 21. (Straight south of Donelly to the junction of Highway 2). This settlement is now vanished, and at one time belonged to Arthur Bastien. The veterans came from various backgrounds and locations in Canada, all were married, some had children, and they were well-educated. One member of their group was Captain Ronald Grant who carried a degree in agriculture, and would be highly desired for their venture. Unfortunately, when he arrived, his wife took one look at the wilderness surrounding and refused to stay. This was a great blow to the community. All the Grant’s furniture was sold to the others. After their hasty departure, they did not keep in contact, yet it was known that Ron obtained a high-level job with the Veterans Land Act in B.C.
