Selwyn Golding, born in Duck Lake SK on February 16, 1920, had five siblings:  Maurice, Edwin, John, Doris, and Anne.  Enlisting in the Army on July 15, 1941, Selwyn served overseas in the UK, Europe, and central Mediterranean area.  He was discharged on January 23, 1946, and returned to Canada.  The next year on June 19, 1947, Selwyn married Catharina Simons (of Gronigen, The Netherlands), in Prince Albert, SK.  Living in Grande Prairie for most of their married life, the couple had 3 sons:  Lucas, Selwyn Jr., and Ferdinand, and 2 daughters:   Elsie, and Catherine.   Selwyn was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 54, serving as Sergeant at Arms.   He died on July 5, 1993 at the QE II Hospital in Grande Prairie.  The funeral was held at the Salvation Army Chapel. Catharina died at age 99 in August 2020 at Heritage Lodge Grande Prairie.
