Ernest Giroux was born on June 14, 1922 to parents Sylva and Marie Louise (Brulotte). Shortly after the parents were married, in 1919, they moved to Washington State in USA. In 1928 the family, now including Sylvianne, Ernest, Richard and Irene, moved to Girouxville AB. There, Sylva built a general store and ran the post office. Marie and the older children helped out with the business. Tragically, Sylva died in a fire destroying all that the family owned in 1941. Marie moved to Vancouver BC in 1942. In this year, both Ernest and Richard joined the forces in WW II. Ernest enlisted with the Army being posted in Sicily, Italy, Belgium and Germany, and he was discharged in 1946. He married Bernice James on September 27, 1947, and the couple had 3 children: Patrick, Barbara, and Denise. Marie Louise passed away in 1968. Ernest died on May 6, 1988.
