Robert Patrick “Bob” Gerow, born in 1920, was the oldest son of Robert John and Jane Ann Gerow. His parents were married in England just after WW I, and his father brought Jane back to Canada where they settled in Buffalo Lakes area in 1919. Bob and his 3 younger siblings, Lila, Beverly, and Allen grew up on a homestead in this area. During WW II, Bob, Lila, and Beverly joined the Army. Bob met his wife Gretha Jacoba Snoek in Holland where they were married in 1946. Gretha moved to Canada with Bob who purchased his grandfather’s (Robert Gerow Sr.) farm near Buffalo Lakes (SW 13-74-7). There they raised two boys, Hank, and Paul. When the boys had left home, Bob and Gretha raised foster children for 15 years. After Bob and Gretha retired, they moved to Grande Prairie. Bob died in June 2002 at age 82 in Grande Prairie, and Gretha died in December 2007 in Grande Prairie.
