Louis Gallant, son of Anthony and Ernestine Gallant, was born as a twin (with a sister, Louise) on February 9, 1914 in Kennedy SK. There were 9 siblings – 6 boys and 3 girls. Both parents died in 1922, and the children were taken in at St. Hubert’s Orphanage in Saskatchewan. In their teenage years, some of the children went to live with their grandmother Chantignay in Goodfare, AB. The grandfather had already passed away. In the home were the grandmother, an uncle Joe, brother Joe, brother Victor who came in 1929, Louis (year or age not known), and his twin sister Louise in 1931. (Victor and Louise found jobs in the area.) Louis married Noella Marie Tousignant from Grande Prairie (year unknown). Louis and Noella settled on an acreage between Hythe and Lymburn AB, and stayed there until 1972. During the war, Louis enlisted in the Army, while his brother Victor also enlisted in 1940. After the war, Louis became a member of the Beaverlodge Branch Legion. The family had 2 sons: Tony and Joe. Noella passed away at age 59, on January 23, 1989 in Beaverlodge AB. Later, Louis moved to Riondel BC. There he remarried to Marrian Ruth who had 3 children. Louis died on December 21, 1994 in Riondel. His interment was in Grande Prairie. Before moving to BC, Louis was baptized at the Grande Prairie LDS church.
