Elliot, Delbert Alvin

Biography:  Delbert Elliot, Son of Alvie and Hazel Elliot, was born in Sexsmith AB on February 18, 1920.  Enlisting in Edmonton, on May 29, 1940, he served with the Royal Canadian Engineers.  After training at Camp Petawawa, ON, Delbert was posted overseas and took blacksmithing.  In battle in Dieppe, Delbert was wounded, then taken prisoner by the Germans, and tragically died of his injuries the same day on August 9, 1942.  His grave is at St. Sever Cemetery Extension, in France.  Delbert was married to Margaret (nee Cicely) of Sutton, Surrey, England.
