Edwin was born on June 14, 1880 in Bromley, Kent, England. He came to Canada in his youth and joined the Royal North West Mounted Police in 1903. In 1905 Edwin was posted to Grouard, where he served until his marriage in 1909. His homesteads were 19-72-6-W6 and 24-72-7-W6, in the Bear Lake area. Apart from his time in the army, Edwin lived there the rest of his life. He died on March 1, 1957 and was buried in the Grande Prairie Cemetery.
