Frederick was born in Derbyshire, England on March 3, 1871. He and his wife Mary Ann were living in Lethbridge at the time of his enlistment in 1915. Frederick had been been serving as a guard at the Lethbridge internment camp for a year prior to enlistment. Due to his rheumatism, Frederick was posted in England. He was discharged on April 5, 1917, having been found medically unfit. In 1919, Frederick and Mary Ann came to the South Peace and filed on NW 34-77-21-W5 and SE 3-78-21-W5. Frederick died in Victoria, British Columbia on September 5, 1963.
