Professor Green, an Englishman, came to Grande Prairie as a missionary in 1912. He was not an ordained minister, unlike the other two men in his party (Hugh Speke and C.W. Trevelyan), but had worked as a professor in an English university. A month after the war started, all three men returned to England to join the British army. Professor Green was killed in action.
