William was born in Londonderry, Ireland on August 9, 1893. He came to Canada in 1910 and settled in the Peace country in 1912. He filed on the eastern half of 1-79-7-W6. William was drafted in 1918; his brother James also fought in the Canadian army. He served in France and married his wife Sarah Heatherington, an Irishwoman, during the war. The couple returned to Canada after William’s discharge. William died on August 20, 1965.
