Flannery, Frank Patrick

Frank was born in Walton, Ontario on January 4, 1878. He enlisted in the Canadian Army in June of 1915. On September 18, 1916, Frank received shrapnel wounds to his abdomen. In February of 1917, he suffered from gunshot wounds to his left hip. He was struck in the leg and hip by an explosive bullet, and had a fractured pelvis as a result. Frank applied a dressing, then crawled back to the advanced dressing station at night. Afterward, he had multiple surgeries to remove shrapnel and dead bone. Frank was invalided to Canada in May of 1917 and discharged on February 8, 1918. Later that year, he filed on the western half of 28-72-3-W6. Frank died in the Shaughnessy Hospital in Vancouver on November 23, 1952.
