Donald was born in Norfolk, England on January 12, 1892. He immigrated to Canada with his family when he was very young. Donald enlisted in the Canadian army in January of 1915. He returned to Canada after the war, and married Mary Forbes Wright in 1922. In 1927, Donald filed on a homestead near Eaglesham. The family live don the farm until 1941, when they moved to Edmonton. In 1946, Donald and Mary moved back to the homestead for their retirement. Don died in July of 1955.
