Administrative history / Biographical sketch
The Farmers’ Union of Alberta (FUA) was established on January 14, 1949 when the United Farmers of Alberta and the Alberta Farmers’ Union amalgamated. It ceased to exist in January 1970 when it amalgamated with the Alberta Federation of Agriculture; the new organization was known as Unifarm. The FUA was to be a non-partisan organization with the objective of advancing the interested of farmers and co-operatives in Alberta. The Farm Women’s Union of Alberta was a connected organization that worked in collaboration with the FUA that had its own executive and worked semi-autonomously.
Scope and content

This fonds contains records related to the Local 103 branches of the FUA and FWUA located in Bay Tree, Alberta. The two local branches main focus was to sponsor community gatherings and charitable organizations. The FWUA directly supported Bay Tree Park until 1974 post-amalgamation into the Women of Unifarm. The collected records includes meeting minute and financial books as well as a 1945 booklet on the history of the FWUA.
