Administrative history / Biographical sketch
The first Drama Festival of the Peace was held in Grande Prairie in 1959, the idea originated from the Grande Prairie Players and the Provincial Drama Director, Jack McCreath. A Festival committee was organized by Mr. McCreath, Don McNaughton and Jack Boddington with Ira McLaughlin as the first chairman. The next Festival was not held until 1962 which was sponsored by the Grande Prairie Allied Arts Council. It is not known how many more Drama Festivals were held after 1963.
Custodial history
These records originated from Isabel Campbell’s reference files which were acquired from the Grande Prairie Public Library in 2013. These materials were part of a bequest by Isabel Campbell to the Library. The files were then donated to the archives in 2013.
Scope and content
The fonds consists of programs from the 1959, 1962, 1963 Drama Festivals that were held in Grande Prairie.
