The Grande Prairie Art Festival appears to have began in 1962, the following people were on the board: Mel Howey, President; Sister Etienne, Vice-President; Mr. Martin Intscher, Executive Director; Mrs. Kay Allen, Secretary; Al Hiatt, Treasurer; M. McIntosh, Publicity; M. Stiles, Syllabus; I. McLaughlin, Awards and J. Robertson, Housing. The categories for entries were Art, Music, Elocution and Public Speaking, Literature, Dancing and Ballet, Photography, Drama and Crafts.
Custodial history
These records originated from Isabel Campbell’s reference files which were acquired from the Grande Prairie Public Library in 2013. These materials were part of a bequest by Isabel Campbell to the Library. The files were then donated to the archives in 2013.
Scope and content
The fonds consists of the syllabus (1962, 1963), a list of winners (1962-1963), program from the final recital (1962, 1963), information on the Peace Country Arts Festival in Dawson Creek (1964) and a program for the Arts Festival held at GPRC (1983).
