Agency History

The original school at Hythe, called Happy Valley, was built in 1914. Miss K. Robson was the first teacher. When Hythe became a village in 1929, a new frame school with three classrooms was built and the name of the district changed from Happy Valley to Hythe. By 1950, the small country schools were beginning to close and Hythe became a consolidated school with several one-room schools being moved onto the site. A new Elementary and a new Junior High School were eventually built.
