Agency History

The reunion of the Morningview and Mount Star Schools took place August 5-7, 1988. Mount Star was located north and east of Sexsmith and held classes from 1917-1955 and Morningview was located south and east of Sexsmith and started classes in 1918 and ceased to operate in 1954. The reunion committee consisted of Olive Mc Intosh, Anne Slater, Bert and Sylvia Chrenek, Pete and Matt Chrenek, Mary Vavrek, and Florence Lawrence. Meetings were held from Oct 7, 1987 to July 25, 1988, at the home of Bert and Sylvia Chrenek. The reunion weekend included a Friday night barbeque, Saturday dinner and dance and Sunday breakfast and church service. Over one hundred people took part in the weekend. Wind up meetings were held in November, 1994 and January 1995. Most of the profit from the event was donated to the Rainbow Society of Alberta.

Custodial History

The records were donated to the South Peace Regional Archives by the secretary-treasurer of the Reunion Committee, Olive McIntosh, in 2010.

Scope and Content

The fonds consists of a minute book (1988-1995), financial records (1988-1995), receipt books listing paid attendees, lists of teachers and students attending each school by year, a worship service bulletin, names and addresses of those contacted in 1987, a registration letter and correspondence.
