Agency History
The Planning and Development department at Greenview is responsible for regulating development in the M.D. under the Municipal Government Act and Subdivision and Development Regulations, as well as specific regulations set out by the municipality. Greenview has statutory plans including: Valleyview and Grande Cache Intermunicipal Development Plans, Municipal Development Plan, Sturgeon Lake Area Structure Plan, and Grovedale Area Structure Plan. Intermunicipal Development Plans guides the municipality in future land use and development within a defined area with an adjacent municipality in these specific instances with the Town of Valleyview and the Town of Grande Cache. The Municipal Development Plan coordinates the future land use, growth patterns, and provides guidance for suitable locations of various types of land uses. Examples are: when development of an industrial, commercial or residential site takes place there are certain criteria they would be required to meet. We have a Sturgeon Lake Area Structure Plan that is specific to land development around Sturgeon Lake and a Grovedale Area Structure Plan specific to development near the Hamlet of Grovedale.
In accordance with Section 639 of the Municipal Government Act, each municipality must adopt a Land Use Bylaw. Our Land Use Bylaw is specific to our municipality, and regulates the use and development of land and buildings within our municipal boundaries.

The records were transferred to South Peace Regional Archives from the Municipal District of Greenview in 2006-2007.
Scope and Content
The sous-fonds consists of aerial photographs of the M.D. of Greenview; and a large collection of survey plans from the Greenview area dating from 1944 to 2005.
