Agency History
The earliest records of the Beaverlodge Mutual Telephone Co. records a list of 18 member stock holders with their monthly payments on account in 1935. Members were responsible for maintenance of their own lines and much of the business of the company had to do with the acquiring and replacing tamarac poles for the main line. Each shareholder paid a levy determined by the company, a rental fee and any toll fees for calls beyond their line.
Custodial History
These records were originally donated to the South Peace Centennial Museum in Beaverlodge and were transferred to the South Peace Regional Archives by Lori Dalgleish in November, 2008.
Scope and Content
The fonds consists of financial records including individuals accounts (1935-1947), and 1943, 1946,1947 audited statements and minutes from 1944 and 1947.
