The collection includes correspondence with the sources of the information, an essay called “Kirnan and the Campbells” written by Paul Kester in 1932, a pamphlet from “The Clan Campbell Society (U.S.A.), and a 1916 issue of “The Campbell Family Magazine” published in New York. |

| Series 032.02 |
E.A. Campbell diaries. — 1867-1904. — 5 cm of textual records.
Eldridge Augustus Campbel was born in Wayne County, Indiana, in 1849. He was a Master Mason by the time he was 25 years old, and in 1879 began work as a train engineer, belonging to the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, Corn City Division No. 4. In 1884 he married Sylvia I.K. Astry, born 1867 in Sandusky County, Ohio. The couple had two children: Clyde Eldridge Campbell and Hazel Campbell McKinley. E.A. Campbell died in Toledo, Ohio in 1925.
The series consists of four yearly diaries written by Eldridge Augustus Campbell when he was 18 to 22 years of age, his membership card in the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers; and two news clippings, one a travel article written by Mr. Campbell as a special correspondant for the Toledo Bee newspaper, and one about a record-setting trip he made from Cleveland to Toledo as the train engineer on “Lake Shore Engine No. 653”. |

Clyde Campbell family. — 1867-1997. — 3 cm of textual records. — 27 photographs.
The series consists of documents and photographs relating to Clyde Campbell, his wife Myrle, and their daughter Isabel. The documents include letters written by Clyde Campbell to his wife Myrle before and after marriage; blueprints of laboratories designed by Mr. Campbell; communications and documents from the War Department regarding Clyde Campbell; certificates from his pharmacy and his involvement with the Masonic Lodge. There is also a transcript of his funeral service and copies of obituaries. The photographs are of Clyde Campbell, Myrle McGuire Campbell, and their daughter Isabel Campbell at various stages of life. The collection includes photos of Isabel receiving awards for her contributions to history in the Grande Prairie area in the 1990s. |

McGuire Family. — 1900-1965. — 1 cm of textual records.
William C. McGuire was a life saver on the Great Lakes (a position that he held for 50 years), when he married Canadian-born Ellen McConachie. The couple had three children: Jack W. McGuire, who became a Commander in the Merchant Marines; Margaret McGuire Lawrence, and Myrtle McGuire Campbell. In 1920 the McGuires retired to a berry ranch near Rochester, New York. William McGuire passed away in 1925; Ellen McGuire lived to the age of 100 and died in 1944.
The sub-series consists of genealogical records from the McGuire family bible, marriage and duplicate birth certificates, news clippings and correspondence. There is also a wooden guest book with articles on Ellen McGuire from her 92nd birthday until her death, and a photograph album of the McGuire family from 1920 onwards. |

Brewer Family. — 1949-1996. — 1 cm of textual records.
Isabel Campbell’s mother, Myrtle married Frank Brewer after Clyde died. His daughters were Frances and Bernice.
The sub-series includes 32 photographs belonging to Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Brewer, Isabel Campbell’s mother and step-father. Subjects include the opening of the Smoky River bridge in the summer of 1949, a trip up the Mackenzie Highway from Rio Grande, a trip up the Alaska Highway as far as Ft. St. John, daughter Francis Brewer, the Lois and Jim Simpson family, friend of the family Edna Moyer, and the obituaries of Eli Pandachuck , Bernice Pandachuck and Edna Moyer. Also included are photos taken of a geological picnic at Kleskun Hills which feature Robert Cochrane as speaker. a eulogy written by Isabel on the death of her father. |

The sub-series consists of scrapbooks containing copies of Isabel’s column in the Herald-Tribune from 1955-1997, and a finding aid she created to document the subject of those articles. The series includes a copy of “Grande Prairie, Capitol of the Peace”, which Miss Campbell wrote in 1969; a letter from the University of Alberta regarding the publication of her father’s letters as “Challenge of the Homestead”; and the guest book which she kept from 1989 to 1992, showing the number of people who visited her to request information about historical topics. |

The sub-series consists of early promotional materials and maps of the Peace River Country; six placemats of drawings of pioneer buildings by various artists; and four reference booklets (Interesting Facts about Grande Prairie, 1930; Edmonton to Peace River and the North Country, 1920-21; The Peace River Country Canada, 1930; and the Peace River Land Recording Division). Isabel Campbell’s original donation of over 10 metres of newspaper clippings, brochures, and assorted reference materials has been reorganized into fonds 510 South Peace Regional Archives Reference Files. These reference files also include reference material from Beth Sheehan, David Leonard, and the Grande Prairie Public Library. The files are updated regularly as new reference material is donated. A transcript of the original card catalogue is preserved with the fonds. |

Isabel Campbell Slide collection. — 1965-1980. — 100 negatives.
The sub-series consists of colour slides of historical sites such as Dunvegan, Kleskun Hill Park, and Hudson Hope Dam; historic buildings at Grande Prairie, Flying Shot Lake, and Pipestone Creek; natural sites such as the Red Willow River, Simonette River, Smoky River, Wapiti River, Bad Heart District, and Richmond Hill Golf Club; and historical churches, schools, and ferries. Most of the slides are unidentified by the photographer. There is one photograph of the Bousefield Homestead and some of the Clyde Campbell Homestead which are identified. There are also slides of Isabel’s home and garden in Grande Prairie from 1965 to 1980. |
