Prisoner Escapes – This Week in History

Lake Saskatoon 1915

Another article from April 28, 1914, this headline read “Prisoner Escapes”. The escape took place from the jail at Lake Saskatoon. In those days, Lake Saskatoon was a thriving community, and was the Headquarters of the RNWMP in the Grande Prairie Division. The prisoner eluded capture, as seen by a further article May 5. On May 12 there was a very small note on page 2 of the paper that only said he was still at large. Ironically, he was in jail for a previous escape!
