In August of 1946, the opening of the new hall at Dimsdale was celebrated with a dance attended by over three hundred people. The writer predicted that the new hall would stand for many years, and it still is, seventy years later. The bones of the original building are still there, but what changes there have been! I attended many dances and Canfor parties there over the years, and was impressed with what the community has accomplished in updating the hall. Visit their website here and have a look at the pictures if you haven’t seen the inside since the days when the “facilities” were basically outhouses attached to the side of the building! Darn cold in the winter, I remember. This is a great example of the kind of community effort that began in pioneer times and continues to this day.
