In an editorial June 9, 1914 Mr. Pratt says the police should keep a kennel of bloodhounds to aid in tracking down criminals who escape into the bush. He refers to Mr. Palmer, the escapee from the Lake Saskatoon jail and was still at large. This was the subject of our blog for the week of April 29.  “Into the tall timber he had plunged” Mr. Pratt said, “into Mother Nature’s protecting arms he disappeared, gone but not forgotten”. He suggests that a kennel of hounds could be bought and kept for a fraction of the money being spent on extensive manhunts.
