Advice to Men Who Can’t Cook

…start looking for a wife!

Under the innocuous heading of “Dishes for Men,” this article, to our modern eyes, is reverse discrimination at its finest.  “Men are so helpless about food problems,” it states, giving the example of a cook who provides nothing but roast beef and mashed potatoes.  These days when buying a piece of beef to roast requires a bank loan, this doesn’t seem like such a big problem.  It goes on to state that if a man chooses not to marry, he should read literature concerning food (obtained by dictating a letter from the office requesting recipes from various companies) and “present this material tactfully to the cook.”  Oddly enough, it is never suggested that the man actually go near the stove himself…
