I.V. Macklin, ca. 1940

In “The Weekly Lineup” the Editor pokes fun at some local fellows.  I have noticed in other papers Mr. Alloway being referred to as “One Duck,” and there must be a story attached to that – I am hoping to run into it eventually.  The item about the accident to I.V. Macklin’s thumb in a hammer mill grain cleaner seems a little less kind in tone, likely because of the many long letters Mr. Macklin was in the habit of writing to the newspaper.  Mr. Macklin replied the next week, his letter appearing in “The Weekly Lineup” with further comment by Frank Rothwell.  The item about having some fun with bidders at an auction sale is cute, and typical of what I remember about Jack Holtom.
