Administrative history / Biographical sketch
The West Central Preschool Society was an incorporated organization created to run a number of preschools in the County of Grande Prairie. This included locations at Beaverlodge, Elmworth, LaGlace, Wembley, Teepee Creek, Sexsmith, Clairmont, Bezanson, Grovedale, and Harry Balfour School.
In the period between 1978 to 1987 Dorothy Floen served as the secretary and treasurer for the society and Lester Prokopczak was the Early Childhood Services (ECS) Coordinator and Designated officer. Other members during this period included Malcolm Read, Conrad Lindblom, Fran Commet, Leanne Simonson , Sally Par’e , Dorothy Martin , Barbara Campbell, and Maureen Linden.
Custodial history
These records were donated to the South Peace Regional Archives in 2014 by the County of Grande Prairie.
Scope and content
This fonds contains a set of audited financial statements and correspondence between the West Central Preschool Society, J. H. Bennion & Co. Chartered Accountants, and Alberta Education – Early Childhood Services.
