Scope and content:

The series consists of one election handout “Logan for Alderman” and some correspondence relating to his position as Alderman, which he held from 1983 to 1986. There is one photograph, an official portrait of Alderman Dwight Logan.

Mr. Dwight Logan became an alderman for the City of Grande Prairie in 1983, and in 1986, the Mayor. He left that position in 1993 to be the candidate for the Provincial Liberals, but became Mayor again in 2006.

Scope and content:

The series consists mainly of campaign literature, correspondence and advertising from Mr. Logan’s campaigns to become Mayor of Grande Prairie in the 1986, 1989, and 2001 municipal elections. There is a small amount of correspondence addressed to him as mayor, and one photograph of Mayor Logan participating with the children in the “Sunbusters” program on Grande Prairie’s 75th birthday in 1989. Three scrapbooks, dating from 1984-1990, contain news clippings regarding the campaigns and issues in and after the elections. An accrual contains two copies of awards Dwight received when he visited Mazatlan and Chile in 2008 and 2009 respectively and two photographs: one of RCMP Awards Presentation, October 18, 2007, Logan’s first event as Mayor of Grande Prairie after being elected and one of the Torch Run for the 2010 Olympics which took place November 2009.

Mayor Dwight Logan and Reeve E. MacDonald are seated with RCMP award winners. The presentation of RCMP Awards was the Logan’s first official event as Mayor of Grande Prairie in 2007.

Scope and content:

The series consists of nine posters collected by Mr. Logan while working for CUSO in Namibia and Malawi and some literature from CUSO asking him to lobby his Member of Parliament to restore funding to Canada’s Foreign Aid budget which was cut by the Conservative Government in the late 1980s. Logan’s response is documented by an article in the December 2, 1989 edition of the Herald-Tribune Weekend magazine, a copy of which is included with the series.

The series consists of eight issues of “The Northern Liberal” newsletter published ca. 1964 by the Grande Prairie Liberal Association; a package of “Opposition News” bulletins from 1992; two letters from Lawrence Decore in 1987 and 1990; and a letter from Paul Martin in 1995. There are also 11 photographs.
