Edward Anthony Kobasiuk was born January 30, 1916 in Lloydminster, AB. He met his wife Hettie in Holland while he served four years in the third division of the Canadian Army. After the war he worked on the construction of the Hart Highway in northern BC and lived in Dawson Creek. In the fall of 1950, he heard of some land being available just past Bonanza. As they worked on the land and built their family, they lived in a tent. In 1959, Ed purchased part of the old Bonanza school. In 1968, Ed decided to supplement farm life by working in the oil fields. Ed passed away on July 17th, 2007 in Fort St. John, BC at 91 years old; he is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Fort St. John, BC.
