Mildred Knezevich was born in Yugoslavia on November 25th, 1920 and came to Canada with her family in September of 1924. They settled in Prestville and later moved to Rycroft. Mildred was the oldest of three children. She would ride her pony into Spirit River to pick up groceries. They farmed as a family and raised Horned Herefords. She served in the Army for 2 ½ years and started the Horned Herefords in 1952. Mildred passed away on March 19th, 2002 at the age of 81 and buried in Old Mission Cemetery, Spirit River, AB.
