Flight Sergeant Robert George Ephraim Kater was born September 20th, 1920 in Grande Prairie, AB. He was 20 years old (January 30th, 1941) when he enrolled in the Air Force and stated his career as a truck driver and a clerk at Lovicks News Agency, his records mention that he was interested in fishing, hunting and badminton.  At the time of his enlistment, he was living in Victoria, BC. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force, R.A.F. Ferry Command (service number R/87959) as a Wireless Operator Air Gunner. On February 1st, 1941 he left for his training, he was ranked 5th out of 33 during his Air Force training. On October 13th, 1941 he received a Gunners Badge and by April 13th, 1942 he was given the rank of Flight Sergeant. He was killed in action during flying operations in the British Isles on July 25th, 1942 at the age of 21 years old and is buried at Norwich Cemetery, Norfolk, U.K. (Sec. 54, Grave 25).
