Kandt, Robert

Robert Kandt was born in Maple Creek, SK. In 1925 the family moved to Fox Valley, SK for more farming opportunities. During the tough years of the 1930s, Robert’s father, John was the local Reeve. In 1937, John rented a farm just south of Wanham where they farmed until moved to Peoria in 1939. Robert and his siblings Sophie and Bert all served in the Army. Robert took a homestead south of Belloy. On November 17th, 1946 he married Margaret Kusmann, they had one daughter. However, he decided to further his education and in 1960 graduated as a general practitioner from the Loma Linda Medical College. After several years of medical practice, he re-entered medical college and became an anesthetist. In 1982 he was working at the Portland Hospital and Sanitorium.
