Jordan, Gerald

Gerald Jordan was born on September 13th, 1921, 25 miles southwest of Beaverlodge in the Hazelmere district in a log cabin on his dad’s homestead. He went to school in the log school house at Beaverbrook, grade 8 was as far as he could attend. In February of 1942, at the age of 20, he joined the army and was in action until 1946. On June 4th, 1948 he married Mary Harding and they farmed the Rio Grande until his passing. He was very active in the community, having served on the Unifarm executive, the Community Hall Board, the Curling Club, the Rural Electrification Association, and the Rio Grande Sports Association. Gerald Herbert Jordan passed away at the Beaverlodge Hospital on April 1st, 1986 at the age of 64. He is buried in the Halcourt Cemetery, next to Mary.
