Henry Jacob was born Jan 11, 1917 at Deschambeau Co. of Portneuf, Quebec. His family arrived in McLennan in 1929. In 1930 his family established itself on unsettled land of Tangent. Before being recruited to the army, Henry filed for his own homestead but it wasn’t until 1945 when he was discharged from the army that he started living on the land. In 1965 he moved to Girouxville and worked as a cook for the oil crews. Between jobs he lived at the Esquire Hotel. At the age of 60 he retired and purchased a trailer to put on a piece of land, he later lived in the Golden Age Manor.
