Regimental Number: W300347
Force: RCAF (Air Force)
Amy Glen, one of nine children of Charles and Amy (Sr.) Glen, was born on December 1, 1921 in Cavendish, Alberta. In the 1930s the family moved to Westlock, where the children attended school. Amy joined the Air Force in 1942. Her sister Agnes, and 4 other siblings also served in WW II. When the war ended, Amy worked in a food industry in Yellowknife, NWT. While there she met her husband, Arthur Hopkins, also a veteran who had been a foot soldier and ambulance driver. At the time he was gold mining in Yellowknife. After their marriage, they moved to Wembley AB, Arthur’s home town. In 1951 Amy and Art settled in the Tangent area where they began to farm. They had 3 children: Chuck (1949), Kathy (1950), and Susan (1953). Amy enjoyed homemaking, horseback riding, playing soft ball, and playing cards. Unfortunately, many activities were hampered due to Amy’s severe arthritis in her later years. Amy and Art were members of the Canadian Legion. Art died in 1980, and almost a year later in 1981, Amy passed away. Both were buried at the Eaglesham Cemetery.
