Clarence “Bubbins” Glenn, born in 1925, was the third child of William Alexander Glenn (Sr.) and Sarah Ann Heatherington, both originally from Ireland. There were five siblings in William Sr.’s family: Jim, Joe (who also served in WW 2), Sam, George, Robert, and Mary. William Sr. came to Canada in 1910 and settled in the Peace River Country in 1912. William Sr. and Sarah settled in McLennan, and raised 6 children (five of them are: Jimmie, Bill, Clarence, Pamela, and Sheila and ?). Bill (Jr.) and Clarence served in WW II. Clarence married May Hakes on November 11, 1946. (May was the daughter of Henry Hakes and Etta Welch. After Henry’s death, May’s mother married Jim Glenn (William Sr.’s brother). Clarence and May had 6 children who were all born in McLennan: Kenneth, Wayne, Robert, Gordon, Linda, and Larry. During their married life, Clarence was quite sick, so May raised the children mostly by herself. May was active in the local Legion and Anglican Church. In 1967 May and the 4 youngest children moved to Sexsmith. Clarence passed away at age 61 on September 22, 1986, and was buried in the McLennan cemetery.
