Bill Ferris was the eldest of 6 children of Wesley and Lily (Richardson) Ferris, who were homesteading in Cayley AB (about 40 miles south of Calgary). Bill was born around 1906 to 1910 in Cayley where 4 of his younger siblings were also born: (Erwin, Arnold, Marion, and Wilbert.) The family moved to Coronation in 1922 where the youngest child, Joan, was born. They moved to Vegreville in 1924, and to Bezanson in 1928. During WW II Bill and his brother Erwin served in the Army, while their youngest brother, Wilbert, served in the Navy. In 1941 the parents and rest of the family moved to Goodwin for more homesteading. Bill married Grace Allen, and they lived in High Prairie for 25 years until they moved to Penticton BC. Bill passed away before 1999 (before his brother Arnold).
