John was born in Honeybourne, England on January 27, 1891. He was living in Strathclair, Manitoba at the time of his enlistment in March of 1916. On August 29, 1916, John married Margaret Morrison in Strathclair, Manitoba (see their marriage certificate on page 45 of John’s service file). Like John, Margaret had been born in England. After their marriage, John was sent overseas. In 1930, John filed on the northern half of 32-80-8-W6 and SE 15-79-10-W6. He canceled all these homesteads, but in 1938 filed on SW 26-74-7-W6 in his wife’s name and the family moved to the area in 1939. Margaret died in 1957, and John ca. April 1977. Both were buried in the Grande Prairie cemetery.
